Academic/Archives, Moderator: Chris Smith. Presenter TBA: "Discovery Software” Discovery software allows researchers to search the library’s catalog, the library’s subscription databases, and its digital collections simultaneously. Hear about the development and future of this tool.
High School and Young Adult Library Services, Moderator: Beth Wakely; Presenter: Carol Winkler, Nerinx Hall: “The Illuminated Librarian: Using Images So Students See the Light” Words, words, words…..they are the easiest to use when communicating principles of library and information literacy to our students, but our hyper-media students need more. Learn ways to incorporate more images in order to communicate with visually-attractive presentations.
Children’s Library Services, Moderator: Jo Ann Holdener, St. Angela Merici School
Round Table Discussion: Possible topics that we might discuss: Data bases for grade schoolers; Are graphic novels part of your library? Economic book sources other than book fairs; How to make your library a necessity at your school; Are we meeting our mission statements or are we caving into the culture?
Parish and Community Library Services, Moderator: Craig George, Most Sacred Heart, Eureka, MO: Presenter: Carol Campbell, Catholic Supply: “Personality of Catholic Publishers” This presentation will focus on the topics and genres that familiar Catholic publishers specialize in, and will include discussion of their most popular titles.
