Presenter: Christine J. Turland, Chair, Fons Sapientiae Award Committee Chair
Recipient: John Waide, Professor/Associate Professor, Pius XII Memorial Library, SLU
Our keynote speaker, Erika Cohn joined SLU LAW in 2012 as an Assistant Professor of Legal Research and Reference Librarian at the Law Library. She received her B.A. from Vanderbilt University, her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and her M.L.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining SLU, Erika was the Copyright and Digital Access Librarian at Washington University in St. Louis where she managed copyright compliance issues and license-related inquiries from librarians, students, and faculty. She is licensed in Missouri and has previously practiced in the areas of products liability, premises liability, transportation, and insurance law. She is also an active member of the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries. Erika grew up in Alton, Illinois, and has been married to her husband Dan (an intellectual property attorney) for eight years.
Our Fons Sapientiae recipient, John Waide, holds a BA (SLU, 1973) and MA (Duke, 1974), both in history. He has worked for St. Louis University at Pius XII Memorial Library since 1974, and has been University Archivist for SLU since 1989. He is a Certified Archivist, and a member of the Society of American Archivists, the Midwest Archives Conference, the St. Louis Area Religious Archivists, and the Association of St. Louis Area Archivists. He grew up in Alton, Illinois, and attended Catholic grade school and high school there. He has been married for 35 years and has two adult children. He and his wife, Carol, live in Columbia, Illinois, and are members of Immaculate Conception Parish in the Belleville Diocese. As both a historian and archivist, he has a special interest in the history of the Society of Jesus in the St. Louis area.
